Mamma Rosa wins “Tre Spicchi Gambero Rosso” award

Gambero Rosso awards Mamma Rosa for “The best Neapolitan pizza”.

The pizzeria of Ortezzano is included in the 2014 edition of “Pizzerie d’Italia”.

Gambero Rosso review below:

The PIZZA CHEF. Marcello D’Erasmo is the proud ambassador of Neapolitan pizza in the Marche region. Purist of the genre, he defines himself as a “pure traditionalist who grew up in the Neapolitan school”; long leavening, exclusive use of wood embers in cooking, thin pizza in the centre with the classic soft and crumbly border. World Champion of Neapolitan STG pizza in 2012, he never rests on success and continues to perfect his work.

THE PIZZERIA. Mamma Rosa is a real Neapolitan pizzeria, without “frills and mixes”, a large, simple but well-finished place, always full of people waiting for their pizza in front of a jug of beer. Behind the success of this business there is a truly special pizza with a perfectly leavened dough, soft and enhanced by proper cooking in the restaurant’s wood ovens. The fried pizza is the new of this year, perfectly golden, dry and light, topped with tomato and ricotta cheese. Among the classic pizzas you must taste the Montanara (tomato, mozzarella, porcini and dry cured ham), the Pugliese (cherry tomato, onions, anchovies and sausage) or the Neapolitan series: Margherita, Bufalina and Marinara. Local pizzas: Ascolana or the excellent sweet pizza with peaches from the Aso valley.
